Hi, I am Ace Hicks.

I am a multi-disciplinary artist and creative being. Born and raised on Vancouver Island and finally back after almost fifteen years in Toronto shooting Canada's top actors and creators. I am thrilled to be home on the west coast for a new perspective through my lens. Building community and connection through creative collaboration is my greatest joy and purpose in life.

My niche can be found in how I view the world and how I rely on instincts and intuition to find the magic and document it. Whatever endeavour is upon me, one thing is certain, I always give it my all. Caring deeply is a blessing and a curse, but when it comes to photography, luckily it becomes a superpower.

My approach is to enjoy the process and make sure the photoshoot is as easy, fun and stress-free as possible. Deep breaths and presence. A laid back exploration where the inner child is free to wander; if you trust me, if you surrender into the moment, into yourself, we will always capture something special. I will never rush a shoot and I will keep shooting until I am absolutely certain that we have nailed it!

When I am not taking photographs, you can find me hanging out with my cats and chickens, dancing by myself, learning how to garden and homestead, teaching acting classes and occasionally jumping in front of the camera to act or behind it to write and direct. My style can be described as free-wheeling, joyful, intimate, colourful and crisp.
